Endless power! August 28, 2008 A_G (CA United States) 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
Really, these batteries provide seemingly endless power. They hold their charge for weeks with very little loss. I can use one battery for drilling and driving throughout an entire (moderately sized) project. They are extremely lightweight and charge in twenty minutes or less usually (in hot weather it takes longer). All three of mine slide on and off easily, with no issues of binding or falling off. With all the praise comes a VERY important caveat. DO NOT run these batteries into the ground. The instructions state that as soon as you notice a loss of power, stop and charge. If you over-discharge Li-Ion batteries, you can seriously degrade the life of the battery. These batteries are 1/3 cheaper on Amazon.com than at the home centers, so buy from here! Also, only the cells themselves are made in Japan, all other parts are made and final assembly is in China.
The Big Makita Lithium Ion Battery February 29, 2008 J. W. Nelson (Painted Post, NY United States) 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
It's a battery. It has held its charge. It has plenty of stored energy. It hasn't died yet (like two of it's smaller bothers have).
It is evidently pretty high tech. I brought the first smaller version that quit on me to a Makita repair center. The tech plugged it into his diagnostic do-hicky and said, "Gee, you've only had twelve cycles on this".
Awsome Cordless Equipment February 25, 2010 Daltex (Dallas, TX) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Makita continues to impress me with it's cordless 18V equipment. I have the drill kit that came with 2 1.5Ah batteries so when I purchased the BTD181 impact driver I felt I needed a third battery for when 2 people are using tools at the same time.
This 3.0Ah battery seems to never need to be recharged. It holds it's charge for a very long time. Working on small projects I still prefer the 1.5Ah battery due to weight but a drill or impact driver with the BL1830 is still very light weight.
This thing just keeps going and going December 22, 2009 I. romayor (Washougal, WA) To this day, I'm amazed at just how long this battery lasts on just 1 charge! Even my partner at work has asked me on several occasions whether I have charged it lately, bc he can't believe I can go a few days screwing in fasteners for metal roofing without plugging it in. It is very light and balances out (weight) the Makita impact driver that it powers REALLY well.
Makita Lithium-Ion Battery LXT the Best December 29, 2009 John Hinton (Quitman, La USA) I have purchase several of these batteries now and have not had one fail yet. I love the way they hold the charge for extended peroids of time when not in use and in use these Batteries last twice as long as my Sears Craftsman 18 volts ones do maybe three times as long and they are much lighter also.
